I got the confirmation yesterday. Next stop: Naples for the formalities. Would they doubt the validity of a marriage between two people who have been together 11 years and have a child together? I wouldn't think so. I also can't think of any reason Cristiano wouldn't pass his "medical exam." I'm kind of suspecting it's just an easy way for the consulate's doctor to pocket 180 Euros for the visit and an extra 10 Euros for every extra vaccination they feel he should have.
So now on to Naples.
And the next stop after that?????
My mother-in-law had a breakdown out of the blue the other day and begged me "Please don't go. Please don't go." In tears. Grasping my shoulders. My heart truly breaks, but what can I do? Help.

Congrats! I feel for your mother-in-law, my family is all spread out and it's hard. She'll really miss Dylan (and his parents too I'm sure!!) and it's hard work maintaining relationships with kids at a distance, but it can absolutely be done. I was always really close to my grandparents, even though I didn't live in the same country and only saw them once or twice a year.
I hope your in-laws can visit you a couple of times a year and vice versa. Good luck in Naples!
Oh no! That had to be tough. I feel for her, but you guys need to do what's best and no one ever said it will be forever.
It's really hard though with the Internet it's never been easier to keep in touch. What is a killer is the differences in time zones. When we are sleeping, they are working and vice versa. But I hope that frequent visits will be part of the package. We at least have to try to see how it goes!
