Sorrido, comunico/I smile, I communicate

I really hate when people ask the question, "Is he a good baby?" How can you really put a value judgement on a 10-week-old? Cristiano's mom and aunts keep calling Dylan "naughty" because he keeps us (or, typically, me) up at night. And he wants to eat 24/7. I feel like an all-you-can-eat breastmilk buffet sometimes. Inevitably when the phone rings or someone pops by, they'll find me breastfeeding and will say "Is he eating AGAIN?" Maybe it's because he's my kid but I just can't get too annoyed with him. Yes, I am sleep deprived and cranky, but I don't feel the need to direct that at him because I don't think he knows better. He's just being a baby, you know? He does still cry quite a bit but he's also begun to express himself in other ways. Below are two videos. In one he smiles (listen to the squeal of the proud mamma at the end of the video) and in the other, he is just talking away. I find it very impressive for a 10-week-old!

All that milk, Dylan looks like he is filling out nicely.

It annoys me how frequently italians use monello/a here. Almost like a term of endearment. And never that they are BEING naughty, but that they ARE naughty, even when they are just behaving age appropriately. When they get a bit older people will stop them on the street and instead of saying something like are you a good boy/ girl, they will say are you naughty. I really don't get it. Then when the kids actually are being naughty and they say the same thing, for sure it must confuse the hell out of them too. Vanessa
