Mother's Day Weekend

We had an action-packed Mother's Day weekend. Yesterday we went up to the lake and mountains with friends. Today I did a 5K (with a very bored and complaining Dylan in the jogging stroller - BAD idea) for breast cancer, made homemade bagels, had lunch with the famiglia and then took my in-laws to the airport for their flight to Madagascar. Here are some great pics my friend shot yesterday. Makes me want to get a nicer camera. And learn how to take photographs.

Haircut!

I finally got this kid a real haircut here in Italy. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. It was only 12 Euros, and as much as he looks traumatized while sucking his thumb, he really isn't. He sucks his thumb quite often as it is.

New buddies

Dylan has some new American buddies here in the neighborhood, and it's doing wonders for his English. He's used to speaking to me in English, but he doesn't usually play in English. Unfortunately this American family is here from Omaha to get treatment at a nearby hospital for two of its four children who are very ill. Cristiano and I will be participating in an auction to raise money for the family. We've donated a gift basket full of wine and gourmet foods that will be shipped when I'm in the U.S. this summer. If you'd like to learn more about the family, you can here. Through the expat network, we have all been offered a trip to Sardinia, and I think we are going to go. Actually they were offered the trip, and then we were asked if we wanted to accompany them. I think we just might!
